Roll-out coincides with BEEAH Group strategy to make its entire fleet environmentally friendly, to ensure a sustainable environment in Sharjah and the UAE.
Sharjah, 3 November 2019: In line with their commitment to adopting best industry practices and technological innovations, BEEAH Group, the Middle East’s sustainability pioneer, and Tandeef, BEEAH Group waste collection and management division, have added Ducati electric mobile waste collection units to their existing fleet, to further enhance operations while continuously promoting BEEAH Group sustainability agenda.
Developed by Ducati Energia, part of the Italian company, Ducati Group, the one-seater vehicle is capable of handling almost 200 kilograms of weight, including the driver, and can reach a speed of 50 kilometers per hour. Charging stations for the EVs will be installed at residential areas in Sharjah. The ‘shed style’ charging stations are fully integrated in a network that connects the energy provider with the electric vehicles and comply with the highest European standards. They are also equipped with radio-frequency identification (RFID) technology, in addition to a remote connection linked to the central office, to monitor the fleet and its operation.
The innovative electric vehicle (EV), which is the first of its kind in the UAE, is the most recent addition to the BEEAH Group existing line of electric vehicles. The deployment of the electric mobile waste collection units coincides with BEEAH Group strategy to make its entire fleet environmentally friendly and to enhance the company’s waste management services to ensure a sustainable environment in Sharjah and the UAE. At present, BEEAH Group has an overall fleet of 1,200 vehicles, which are controlled by a smart fleet management system that helps to optimize consumption of resources and operations.
The efficiency of electric mobile waste collection units also contributes to the improvement of workplace standards and safe practices by limiting the number of employees working manually under direct sunlight. With health and wellbeing being at the heart of Tandeef’s operations, this latest addition to the fleet is another step forward for the company’s vision to improve the quality of life for all UAE residents.
Commenting on the new Ducati vehicles, HE Khaled Al Huraimel, BEEAH Group Group CEO, said: “BEEAH Group is aiming to make its entire fleet run on clean energy over the next few years. This new fleet furthers the company’s sustainability agenda through adopting an eco-friendly solution and cementing its commitment to reduce carbon emissions in order to support BEEAH Group goal of improving air quality for the betterment of living standards in the UAE. This move is a testament to BEEAH Group efforts in enhancing the quality of life and pioneering sustainable living in the UAE and the region.
“BEEAH Group continuously demonstrates its commitment in adopting the latest industry practices and forerunning innovative technologies while simultaneously improving operational efficiency,” Al Huraimel added.
Overall, Tandeef’s eco-fleet will continue to make a significant contribution to reducing the company’s carbon footprint. In 2018, BEEAH Group had become the first organization to order Tesla’s electric Semi trucks in the Middle East. Plans for ambitious regional expansion and ever-growing operational demands pushed the company to place the order for 50 of the revolutionary trucks, consequently positioning Tandeef as the regional waste management leader in the region.
In the same year, BEEAH Group partnered with Crescent Enterprises to launch ION, the region’s first commercial sustainable transport company. ION aims to drive a fully green fleet management enterprise in the UAE and the region, through a ‘zero emission transport system’.
