- BEEAH’s global sustainability award introduces a pathway for winners to pursue incubation support and scale their innovations
- In addition to the award’s existing themes, this year’s edition also introduces a new Healthcare theme to recognize innovations across future-critical sectors
Sharjah, UAE, 8 SEPTEMBER 2026 – The Future Pioneers Award, the global award platform by BEEAH, has officially opened submissions for its 2026-2027 cycle, inviting groundbreaking innovations in sustainability from around the world. Now in its 15th edition, the platform returns with expanded award themes and potential incubation pathways for winning innovations.
Held for the fourth consecutive year under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, President of the American University of Sharjah, the Future Pioneers Award recognizes innovators who are addressing some of the world’s most pressing sustainability challenges. This year, the award will welcome solutions across seven distinct themes: Energy Efficiency & Conservation; Waste Reduction & Circular Economy; Clean & Renewable Energy; AI & Digital Tools for Sustainability; Sustainable Design & Infrastructure; Net-Zero Strategies; and Healthcare, the new thematic addition.
The newly introduced Healthcare theme was developed in collaboration with Mass General Brigham and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, building on BEEAH’s broader healthcare collaboration with the two Boston-based institutions through the Jawahar Boston Medical District. Experts from Mass General Brigham and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute also serve on the faculty of Harvard Medical School, bringing deep expertise across clinical care, research and healthcare innovation.
While underscoring the award’s focus on sustainability and innovation, eligible submissions under the new Healthcare theme may address areas such as circular innovations in medical waste management, sustainable healthcare facilities, solutions for disease prevention, tools for public health monitoring, and other solutions that advance public health outcomes.
To support winners, BEEAH has also partnered with the Sharjah Entrepreneurship Center (Sheraa) to support shortlisted candidates through the awards process. Sheraa will host the Pitch Readiness Masterclass, its leading one-day workshop to mentor all shortlisted candidates, helping them learn to pitch to judges and potential investors. It will also provide eligible winners with a fast-track opportunity to join Sheraa’s membership to scale their innovations.

Submissions for the 2026-2027 cycle are open to individuals, groups of up to five members (students or professionals), schools, universities, and corporations worldwide. Successful entries should address sustainability challenges aligned with one or more of the award’s seven themes.

Applicants can submit their sustainability entries across four submission categories:
- Sustainability Initiative for implemented projects that have already demonstrated measurable sustainability impact.
- Sustainability Prototype for physical, digital, or technological innovations that have progressed beyond the concept stage and demonstrate potential to solve a sustainability challenge.
- Sustainability Documentary for short films between 10 to 15 minutes that explore sustainability challenges, community issues, or environmental success stories through factual storytelling and awareness-building.
- Sustainability Solution for comprehensive, evidence-based proposals that address pressing sustainability challenges through technology, policy, social innovation, systems thinking, business innovation, or process improvement.
After registration and submission, a judging committee will evaluate entries based on theme-specific criteria, as well as their originality, feasibility, scalability, and potential to create meaningful environmental and social impact. Shortlisted candidates will then be invited to attend Sheraa’s Pitch Readiness Masterclass, designed to help refine their ideas and prepare for the final presentation to the judging panel. Following the final assessment round, winners may be offered a fast-track opportunity to join Sheraa’s membership and scale their innovations through its ecosystem.
Over the past 14 years, the Future Pioneers Award has grown from a grassroots environmental initiative into a global platform for sustainability innovation. Its previous edition concluded with nearly 1,000 submissions from 10 countries, including the UAE, France, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Oman, India, Jordan, Morocco, Qatar, Egypt, and Sudan. Today, the award continues to connect innovators, researchers, students, professionals, and organizations working to create a more sustainable future.
Registrations will open on September 8 and close on October 8, 2026. Registered participants have until December 29, 2026, to submit their innovations. Winners will be honored at an awarding ceremony in April 2027.
