Exhibits affirm company’s position as a frontrunner in the adoption of sustainable innovation

Bee’ah, the Middle East’s leading and award-winning environmental management company, showcased its leadership in innovation, during the Sharjah segment of the UAE Innovation Month, which was held in the emirate from the 15th to the 21st of February. Bee’ah’s revolutionary pursuits were displayed at Al Majaz Waterfront and the Flag Island, in alignment with the unique celebration that highlights the UAE’s commitment to innovation.

Held under the slogan “Innovation Starts with You”, the UAE Innovation Month is a nationwide event that seeks to recognize and encourage a culture of innovation. The event which commenced in Abu Dhabi on the 1st of February, will make its way through all seven emirates, before concluding in Dubai on the 28th of the month. In keeping with the Year of Zayed, the activities of the month will also highlight the defining role played by the late Founding Father of the UAE, His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, in guiding the nation towards the path of innovation.

Following its successful participation at the UAE Innovation Week in previous years, Bee’ah has collaborated with the Government of Sharjah’s Executive Council and Shurooq to illustrate Sharjah’s pursuits in innovation, within the wider context of the UAE.

Commenting on Bee’ah’s participation, HE Khaled Al Huraimel, Group CEO of Bee’ah, said, “Under the UAE Vision 2021 National Agenda, innovation is recognised as one of the pillars by which we can achieve the UAE’s goals for growth and prosperity. The UAE Innovation Month will encourage public and private entities as well as individuals, to pursue innovation and to explore the extent to which it can be utilised across all sectors. As a company that has always placed innovation at the centre of its growth strategy, Bee’ah is proud to be a part of this remarkable celebration of innovation.

We pride ourselves on being early adopters of new technologies and have used innovation to great advantage in achieving our goals for sustainable development. Through our participation, we are showcasing a few of the innovations that have been introduced to the region by Bee’ah. Our partnerships with world renowned entities have enabled us to extend the limits of innovation, and suggest unique solutions to everyday challenges. We believe such collaborations will constitute the future of innovation in the UAE, and will accelerate the nation’s growth as a global hub for innovation.”

Bee’ah’s participation in the event will include a booth at the Al Majaz Waterfront, and a display at the Flag Island. The company will be featuring its innovations such as the Reverse Vending Machine (RVM), Wi-Fi bin and electric desert cleaning vehicle (Polaris Ranger), in addition to ventures including the Bee’ah mobile application, the company’s new headquarters and the Tesla Semi trucks.

An innovative take on the traditional vending machine, the RVM enables the recovery of materials like PET bottles and metal cans. Bee’ah was the first to introduce these machines in the UAE, and has used them to great effect within the company’s CSR programme, Bee’ah Rewards. In addition to providing easy access to all of Bee’ah’s services, the company’s unique mobile application enables users to see the location of these RVMs and enter the monthly draw held as part of the Rewards programme. The Polaris Rangers are state-of-the-art vehicles which run on electricity and help in the conservation of desert areas. They are the first of their kind in the UAE, and are capable of carrying a weight of up to 225 kilograms.

Bee’ah’s new headquarters is an example for sustainable innovation, particularly through its position as a net zero energy building. The building will operate using solar energy stored in Tesla’s state-of-the-art Powerpack. In acknowledgement of their shared interest in innovation, Bee’ah has also placed an order for 50 of Tesla’s revolutionary new Semi trucks. Considered to be the first and largest order in the Middle East, this acquisition of the innovative electric trucks is part of Bee’ah’s vision to expand the green capabilities of its current fleet of 1000 eco-friendly vehicles.

Making Sharjah the first location in the Middle East to implement this technology, Bee’ah set up solar-powered, smart bins across the emirate. Acting as Wi-Fi hotspots, these bins are double streamed for increased solar capacity, thus collecting 5 times more waste, in addition to offering free connectivity to consumers, within the radius of forty metres.

Recognising the role of future generations in driving the nation’s agenda for innovation, Bee’ah’s education team will also be conducting a workshop for students at the Flag Island.
