Sharjah, UAE, 10 October 2019: Bee’ah, the Middle East’s leading sustainability pioneer, has launched WastePro+, a groundbreaking technology solution to enhance waste management services in the region. The digital solution will significantly benefit the industry, thanks to its increased efficiencies, and optimize Bee’ah’s entire waste collection, recovery and recycling processes. The launch is in line with Bee’ah’s ambitions to become a fully digitally-enabled and data-driven organization.

Co-developed with international software companies, WastePro+ is a complete end-to-end solution for waste management. Collection points will be wi-fi enabled and RF tagged, allowing waste to be tracked from disposal all the way through to Bee’ah’s waste sorting facilities. The resulting data will optimize collection times, removing vehicles from the road, reducing vehicle and fuel usage, emissions and man hours. It will enable Bee’ah to fully monitor logistics and control assets across all stages of the waste management cycle, ultimately allowing for enhanced waste diversion rates that will contribute to the UAE’s sustainability goals.

A web portal will enable Bee’ah customers to access a range of real-time data points, including diversion rates for their waste. Data will eventually be made available to the public, with the long-term goal of enabling them to contribute to a smarter, more efficient and integrated system.

In addition, the software helps the company understand its demographics, reducing response time to requests, and ensuring accountable driver behavior. It also provides a comprehensive database for learning and improvements in service delivery, as well as making Bee’ah operations more sustainable through minimising the company’s carbon footprint and resource usage.

Through AI and machine learning, the system will actively learn, update and improve performance. With much of the database heavy lifting restructured and reorganised through the WastePro+ software and machine learning, levels of compliance will reach international standards of IT governance and service management.

Khaled Al Huraimel, Group CEO at Bee’ah commented on the launch: “Sustainability and digitalization are at the heart of Bee’ah’s operations and we strive to merge these two pillars to ensure better living standards for the UAE. As we embark on the next phase of Bee’ah’s journey, we believe that the digitalization of our operations is of crucial importance in achieving our operational excellence targets. Automated data acquisition and live tracking gives us better insight into our resources and consumption, streamlining the company’s processes to operate in a more agile and efficient manner, meeting international standards.

“The digitized infrastructure frees up time and effort, unlocking the potential for our employees to become more upskilled and contribute more effectively to delivering sustainable value to the UAE’s communities ensuring a better quality of life for all,” he continued.

In addition to deploying state-of-the-art solutions, Bee’ah is also developing new technologies to support the development of smart, sustainable cities. From using a smart, eco-fleet of 1200 vehicles for waste collection, to monitoring and improving operations through live feeds at the company’s central control room, and optimizing waste treatment through robotics and internationally benchmarked advanced technologies, Bee’ah has implemented several regional firsts.

In addition, the company has introduced several next generation technical solutions for commercial and government entities such as the Hamriyah Waste Permit Portal, Sharjah’s first of its kind blockchain platform that was developed for the Hamriyah Free Zone Authority (HFZA). Bee’ah has launched its own digital arm, Evoteq, which is enabling digital transformation in the region, and leading high-profile projects such as the largest municipal digitization project in the GCC. Bee’ah has also set a new benchmark for AI integrated solutions in the MENA region through its new headquarters; which will be the first fully AI integrated building and one of the smartest and most sustainable buildings in the world.
